2021 TICKETS ON SALE SOON!
|NOVEMBER 2021||5th-7th (Friday-Sunday)|
Join the Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad’s Cass Scenic Railroad for the 2021 Rail Heritage Weekend in West Virginia. Building upon last year’s event when we introduced Middle Fork Climax No. 9 following a multi-year restoration, Heritage Weekend returns on November 5-7, 2020 for an unforgettable three-day railroad photography event. This year’s event will only be open to 50 patrons, offering clean photo lines and most importantly, more runby locations!
Why early November? This time of year provides cool temperatures which helps steam locomotives produce dramatic plumes of smoke and steam! Low sun angles throughout the day will give us plenty of dramatic lighting.
The three day weekend will begin on Friday morning at Durbin. Heisler No. 6 will performs runbys throughout the morning and afternoon between Durbin and Hosterman. The locomotive will be turned on the “WYE” allowing for new photo angles and optimal lighting conditions.
On Saturday we will travel to Bald Knob. This rare, November excursion will be the first late-season photography special to the top in many decades. Multiple runbys will be made at several locations during the day.
Saturday’s night photo session will feature Shay No. 4 and No. 5 as well as Mower Camp Car No. 419 fresh off a complete restoration.
Sunday morning and afternoon will feature former Mower Lumber Co. Shays No. 4 and No. 5 with freshly restored Mower Camp Car No. 419. Throughout the morning and afternoon we will recreate the look and feel of an early 1950’s Mower logging camp.
As usual, there will be many other surprises throughout the weekend!
Schedule and equipment availability subject to change. A complete schedule of events will be e-mailed to confirmed attendees prior to event.
